Dummies, vacuum cleaners, sex toys, fitness equipment, hairbrushes … these are just some of the everyday items that South Korean choreographer and performance artist Geumhyung Jeong has collected over the past few years and turned into her performance partners. In her performances she explores time and again the curious relationships between her body and these objects of modernity. REHAB TRAINING is a duet with a life-size male dummy that was created as an artificial patient for training nursing staff. Jeong painstakingly puts this dummy through a kind of rehab training consisting of set concrete tasks: under her control, he learns to move, walk and touch her. With almost irritating calmness and prudence, Jeong devotes herself to the attempt to make her partner capable of interaction and to forge a relationship with him. The audience become voyeurs in the growing intimacy within this absurd pas de deux.

Geumhyung Jeong appeared at SPIELART back in 2015 with her piece CPR PRACTICE.
